Hotel Executive Teams: Balance of Power Among Department Heads?

The focus on team approaches to performing work and insuring quality in hospitality organizations has raised questions about the effectiveness of work teams. This study examines power balances among department heads in hotel executive teams to assess political variables that may undermine the team's objectives of integrating departmental efforts in achieving quality in the participating hotels. An analysis of team memberpowerbases reveals the need fororganizational interventions to address the power imbalances that may inhibit positive team performance.
